News for January 2009
Posted on 01 Jan 2009 by Kathy
I hope that you all had a truly wonderful festive period and that the coming year will be a successful one, despite all the reported doom and gloom to the contrary.
So - New Year’s resolutions - is it worth making any? How many of you have started on January 1st with good intentions, only to abandon them weeks (or even days) later? The main reasons why we don’t stick to our well-intentioned plans are:
They are unrealistic - over ambitious expectations set us up for certain failure
They are not specific enough - just ‘getting fitter and healthier’ lacks the clarity needed to motivate us
We don’t have a ‘game plan’ - saying we want something without actually working out how we’re going to get it is like jumping in a car with no map or directions.
We don’t celebrate the small achievements along the way - the eventual goal could be a long way off and small acknowledgments of our progress help to keep us motivated.
So - in an attempt to ‘practice what I preach’ my own resolution has been put through the SMART test (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-based) and involves a 16 week training plan in readiness for the London Marathon on April 26th. My goal is to set a new personal best on the day whilst picking off a few other pb’s in set races along the way. I also want to raise as much money as I can for a fabulous charity
Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice Have a look at the incredible work they do with terminally ill children in Wales. If you want to help me with this Click Here Any amount will be very gratefully received.
In addition, if you would like help and support in achieving your own personal or business goals - get in touch to discuss how individual coaching can help - the initial session is always complimentary and without obligation.
Wishing you all a very successful and profitable month
Kathy
